I asked the clerk what happens if the new one breaks and it was discontinued. They will replace with similar unit. So the first store should have given me an equivalent but sent me up the road to the store with inventory. I have a mix of mastercraft and craftsman. Now this along with wonder what happens if Sears goes belly up. When I bought my house I got these garden tools, spade shovel, rake etc. All fiberglass and all life warranties.

First they say nothing in their store has a lifetime warranty, lie #1 Then they say the warranty demands a receipt Lie #2 I hate Canadian Tire with a passion, the customer service sucks, because they're franchises, head office has little pull over the locations, the fuckers refused to return a defective lawn mower because I bought at another location, I argued that i bought it from Canadian Tire, not 'Joe's Canadian Tire'. Head office couldn't force them to take it back. Unless there is an incredible deal, I will not shop there period. I've generally not had any issues with warranty replacements at CT, no receipt needed (for lifetime warranty stuff). They were hight quality tools and never any issues with exchanges when broken. I never had any but that was in the early 90's. The reason I'd like to go with Mastercraft is there's a CT in almost any town in Canada and I plan on doing lots of travelling in the next 5 years with my Bronco so any time some tool breaks would be nice to not have to worry about warranty BUT at that point if there's an issue might as well buy 2x the tools from Princess Auto.
